I am so excited about these editable student planner templates. There are so many wonderful things you can do with these simple editable planner templates. Some schools do not provide student planners, so I thought it would be great to create a set that would be easy to edit and implement if needed. These are best for first and second grade students. However, teachers from higher grade levels have mentioned using them with success.  In my last post, I spoke about adding the planner templates to an ALL-IN-ONE  student binder such as the one pictured below.  You can read that blog post here. In this post, I wanted to speak a bit more about the student planners. You can grab everything from this post here: Editable Monthly Student Planner and Binder Templates.

Student planners/agendas in the primary grades are used for helping students with getting organized.  It helps them keep up with their weekly spelling words. Students complete calendar tasks and write reminders or simple notes in their planner.

Each day students copy the weekly spelling words as part of their practice for Friday spelling quizzes.

However, I have added a bit more to the planner templates. These include: to-do lists, reminders, and sequencing events throughout the day. The great thing is, anything added to the file in the future,  you will receive as a free update.

The first step in setting up your student planners is to decide the templates that you want to use. In the set that I have created, there are 3 different templates. The templates allow you to mix and match however you choose. All the templates are editable.

First we have the monthly themed templates.

For the monthly themed templates, there are monthly themed covers. The covers are pictured below.  Parts of the covers are editable. These include the dates and the themes that are on the covers.  The covers are totally optional and you do not need to use them in this way if you do not want.

The Monday pages throughout this theme include monthly themed clipart if you would like to use the Monday pages. These are optional as well. Once you download this file, you will see a folder with the monthly themed choices for your Monday pages. This is only on the Monday pages for the monthly themed templates. You can use the themed covers to change the covers of your planners as the months change.

You can place the monthly planner pages in a folder, in your All-In-One Binder or have them bounded. It’s all up to you and what you decide will work best for your students. The templates are provided to make it easier for you.

The monthly themed templates can be adapted to add other seasonal clipart or phrases. You will need to purchase your own clipart if you would like additional clipart to add to your monthly themed planners. The September planner has already been created for you as an example and all you would need to do is print  September when you purchase this planner set.

With the September template, you can just print.  You are then able to change the dates and words to create your October, November and other monthly planners. This is a DIY planner set so as you create the months, you can save each file so you won’t need to create it over again next year. All you would do is change the year and dates.  Everything is editable. You won’t need to wait on me to update these planners year by year, you can do it yourself as this is a DIY planner bundle.

As I mentioned before,  there are monthly themed planner covers, but there are also many other cover choices if you do not want to do a monthly themed planner for your students. You can have students choose their own planner covers, or choose a standard cover for your entire class.

If you are binding your planner like the picture below, I would say that you need to laminate the cover page so it’s more durable.

Add tabs if you plan on placing the months together bounded or in a binder.

Another option is to just print each individual month of your student planner and switch out the months as you go. It is totally up to you.

These planner templates were created specifically with first graders in mind. However, they can also be used for 2nd graders and possibly 3rd graders. Please look at them carefully to see if they will fit your needs before purchasing.

Here is an example of another template in the set.

The great thing to note is, you can change the text on the templates to say whatever you want for your students. You can also delete text that you do not like. You cannot edit pictures. At the top of the page, you can even change the blue color to be black or gray if you do not want to print your student planners in color. The Monday pages for this template looks like what you see below. As you can see, it has a weekly goal. You can change that and replace it with text of your own. Included is a weekly goal template without lines if that is preferred.

This is the same theme as the theme prior,  however if you notice, I have added color to the boxes to denote behavior for the day.  In addition, I’ve also added a parent signature line where parents can sign off each night that they have seen student color for the day and also to check student spelling words.Check out the ALL-IN-ONE BINDER POST. In that post, you will find communication logs where you can write exactly why students received a specific color. This is only for teachers who use a color system. If you do not need this, feel free to delete or edit, as the templates are all editable.

This style also has a monthly overview page that looks like this:

Here they can write whatever is important to them in this month. Again, you can change the color and text to say December, October or whatever month you would like.

Here is an example of the third template style in this set.

This is the weekly overview page for this style.

Choose from lined paper or no lines within this style.

Again, this bundle includes monthly calendars, behavior calendars, data charts, reading logs, schedule templates, newsletter templates, homework templates, parent homework and binder letters, communication logs, and other files that will help you and your students get organized and focused for the school year.
